About Lupo

Lupo is essentially a reflection of me, Liza Bracey. Every single item is crafted by my hands, from the initial knitting to the final finishing touches. Each piece takes three days to complete, embodying a meticulous process that honours both tradition and sustainability.

I use a vintage, hand-operated knitting machine — the Brother KH260 paired with the KR260 ribber — bringing an artisanal quality to every stitch. When construction is required, I use another vintage hand-operated machine, a Hague linker, to join the components.

After knitting and construction, each item undergoes a careful hand wash with an environmentally friendly detergent. This step removes the oils and waxes added during spinning to aid the knitting process. Once dry, I rewash the garment with gentle agitation to slightly felt the wool, enhancing durability and texture, followed by a light brushing while still damp to give a slightly fluffy finish.

The wool I use is 100% British, sourced exclusively from woolyknit.com. Their ethically sourced, traceable wool is of exceptional quality, ensuring each garment not only looks and feels exquisite but supports sustainable farming practices. Choosing British wool reduces our environmental footprint by cutting down on long-distance transport, reinforcing Lupo’s commitment to responsible, innovative knitwear.
